Missions

Honduras is the 3rd most impoverished country in Latin America and there is a great need for children to have the basic necessities met as well as to learn about the saving On September of 2011, a group of 10 young people from Charlotte, NC did a very unusual thing - instead of using their vacation time to travel for pleasure, they instead traveled to Central America to work for 10 days and share the love of Jesus! They traveled through World Gospel Outreach to the capital of Honduras, Tegucigalpa. They stayed at Rancho Ebenezer, a foster-care type facility that houses orphaned children through adolescence and gives them the warmth and affection of a loving family, as well as meeting their basic needs. We also traveled to the nearby community to complete labor projects and bring the love of Jesus to the poorest of the poor. I pray this is only the first of many more missions trips in a life dedicated to the service of others.

Macaw Shirts

Design for the shirts I’m hand printing to raise funds for my upcoming missionary trip to Tegucigalpa, Honduras. It’s based on their national bird, the scarlet macaw, and drawn in a style reminiscent of the Mayan and Incan art forms. The bird is in full flight to represent the work of God being done in this impoverished country. The verse (on back) is Matthew 25:40 which is where Jesus says that “anything you did for these smallest brothers of mine, you did for me”.

Daily Praise Reports

We have lift off!! Thank you for all the prayers, please keep em coming while we r in a far away land! So pumped for what God is gonna do!

Day 1 - We touched down safely.
Our team made it to Tegucigalpa safely and on schedule. Some of us with fewer than a couple hours of sleep, but all very excited none the less. We were greeted by Andrew and Simi Davis, our team missionaries from WGO, and embarked on the 1.5 hour trek up the windy… Read more —>

Day 2 - I’m smitten
Today we got to go to church and hear God’s word. The preacher shared how a house built on a rock will not fall. That rock is Jesus, and he’s so right. It’s amazing to see spirit filled people who are full of joy despite what we Americans perceive as “poverty”. Because when you have… Read more —>

Day 3 - the most labor I’ve ever done on labor day.
We got up early this morning with a full agenda of work projects around the ranch. We set out to build some benches, a set of bleachers and to erect both a tether ball and flag pole out by the school. Needless to say, we are all exhausted and can only pray God renew our strength for the work… Read more —>

Day 4 - God will supply all your needs according to the riches of His glory
Today we met a wonderful Honduran family - a widow and her four young children. The only form of provision she has for her family is a small snack and soda shop she runs out of the front her house. And I use the word “shop” very loosely. It’s more like a few sodas and snacks sold out… Read more —>

Day 5 - His strength is made perfect in my weakness.
We are seeing God move in big ways through our weaknesses here. I was able to overcome my fear of public speaking and lead a prayer before a camp-wide bonfire, and i know it was God cause its something I would never have been able to do. We also got to share dinner with… Read more —>

Coffee roaster at Ranch Ebenezer. The ranch grows, roasts and sells coffee to support the ministry, and I gotta say, it’s some of the very best coffee I’ve ever had. $10 a bag if you are interested!

Day 6 - Learning to be more like Jesus
So I keep asking God to make me more like Jesus, yet carpentry isn’t exactly what I had in mind. Thomas, Kim and I set out to build a set of bleachers for the kid’s soccer field. Nothing fancy, just 6 steps, about 6 feet wide made out of scrap wood. We worked on it for 9 hours over… Read more —>

Day 7 - It could always be worse
This whole week we’ve been blessed with the opportunity to bless a few widows with brand new cement floors for their little homes. All I kept thinking was how blessed I am to live in the abundance that is the United States of America. I am surrounded with comforts and commodities… Read more —>
